Provenance: two sworn affidavits executed December 2, 2022, before Notary Public Cathy M. Ross, Ouachita Parish, Louisiana, by inmates then housed at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center; filed with Tony Hunter’s December 30, 2022 Application for Post-Conviction Relief. Both men swear they do not know Tony Hunter and volunteered only to describe Pod 10. Transcribed below in full from the signed affidavits; prisoner identification numbers are redacted per this site’s privacy policy; wording otherwise as sworn (including original spellings). Why these matter: the State’s two “overheard confession” witnesses claimed to have heard a conversation through the Pod 10 window — see the window page.
Sworn Affidavit of Willie Campbell
My name is Willie Campbell, and I am currently incarcerated at the Ouichita [sic] Parish Correctional Center at 4801 Highway 165 Bypass, Monroe, LA 71202. [Prisoner number redacted per site policy.]
I hereby swear or affirm the following statement:
1. I have been housed in several living quarters called Pods at the correctional center including Pod 5, Pod 6, Pod 8, Pod 10, Pod 11 and Pod 12.
2. Without hesitation I can say that if a person in the yard were to attempt to speak to a person in Pod 10, the two people could not communicate quietly or even discretely. Everyone, including Security and others nearby could hear.
- The glass in the window is really thick. You can’t hear through the glass.
- It would be hard to get the attention of someone in the yard, if you were in the Pod, you’d have to bang on the window, which isn’t going to be tolerated by security.
- You could try to wave to the person and might be able to have a conversation through hand signals. But still, you’d be seen and probably punished.
- It would be impossible to fully understand one another if one person is in the yard and the other in Pod 10 no matter what kind of conversation you try to have.
3. I do not know Tony Hunter. I volunteered when I was asked to describe the Pod for a group of strangers, and to say if two people could carry on a quiet conversation between the Pod and the Yard. I believe such a conversation would be impossible.
I offer this testimony freely. No one has offered me compensation in any manner to swear to this.

1. I have been housed in several living quarters called Pods at the correctional center including Pod 5, Pod 8 and Pod 10.
2. I can say with complete confidence, that if a person in the yard were to attempt to speak to a person in Pod 10, it would be impossible to have a quiet conversation. Everyone, including Security and others nearby could hear.
- The glass in the window is thick. It’s clearly designed to prevent escape.
- To get the attention of someone in the yard, if you were in the Pod, you’d have to bang on the window. Security would never let that happen.
- You might be able to have a conversation through hand signals, I have seen that done. But those conversations are not detailed conversations.
- You can’t hear through that glass.
- It would be impossible to fully understand one another if one person is in the yard and the other in Pod 10.
3. I do not know Tony Hunter. I was asked if I would be willing to describe the Pod for a group of strangers, and to say if two people could carry on a quiet conversation between the Pod and the Yard. I believe such a conversation would be impossible.
