This is Tony Hunter’s account of a Louisiana conviction built without physical evidence, and of what it is to be imprisoned for a crime you did not commit. It reproduces the trial transcripts in full — both opening statements, both closing arguments, preserved word for word, including the grammar and the errors, so readers can judge the trial for themselves rather than take anyone’s summary of it.
It includes the declaration of Professor Robert M. Bloom of Boston College Law School, an expert on the use of informants in the criminal justice system, who reviewed the informant materials in this case.
